The Super Bowl Host Committee has organized a fishing tournament to honor Oakland Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper, free-agent NFL defensive lineman Corey Smith and former South Florida player William Bleakley, who died last year when their boat overturned off the coast of Florida. Former NFL coach Jimmy Johnson hosts the Billfish Bowl, Feb. 4-6 in Key Largo. The sailfish tournament, benefits Gridiron Greats, an organization helping retired football players with their medical costs.
The Billfish Bowl will take place at Jimmy Johnson’s Fisherman’s Cove, a unique private residence club in Key Largo, Florida, and home of the Big Chill, a waterfront restaurant, bar and pool/cabana club. The Flutie Brothers Band will perform at the kickoff party. From there on out it’s hardcore fishing, nightly parties, fantastic food, live music, and raffles. Most importantly, anglers will have the chance to rub elbows with some of football’s most notable players, coaches and owners, who will be making the most of their time in South Florida for the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl. http://www.billfishbowl.com/
